George B. Robb, 85, loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and war hero, went home to be with the Lord Monday, Dec. 29, 2008. George B. Robb, 85, loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and war hero, went home to be with the Lord Monday, Dec. 29, 2008.

George leaves behind a wife of 21 years, Muriel; sons, George and John; stepsons Jim Thomas, Steve, and Joe; sisters, Elizabeth Evans, Joanne Posa and Patricia Broeker; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

His brothers, Howard and Jack, preceded him in death.

George was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters. George flew a total of 31 missions in a B-24, 28 missions in the 492nd bomb group, and three missions in the 467th bomb group.

After the war, George retired as a conductor with the San Francisco (Frisco) Railroad. He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis and was a Mason.

George will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Memphis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
