George Francis Points, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He was born June 30, 1921, in Cape Girardeau, son of Earl Francis and Vivian C. Hoffman Points. He first married Betty Swan Nov. 5, 1942, in Pensacola, Fla. She died April 30, 1986. He later married Dorothy Krueger Oct. 3, 1987, in Charleston, S.C...

George Francis Points, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born June 30, 1921, in Cape Girardeau, son of Earl Francis and Vivian C. Hoffman Points. He first married Betty Swan Nov. 5, 1942, in Pensacola, Fla. She died April 30, 1986. He later married Dorothy Krueger Oct. 3, 1987, in Charleston, S.C.

George was a salesman with Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. 22 years. He retired in 1981. He had been a manager of the Retread Shop in Cape Gir-ardeau and in Peoria, Ill.

He was a member and past commander of American Legion Post 63, member and past trustee of VFW Post 3838, member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Men's Club, Allen Laws Oliver Society Sons of the American Revolution, American Diabetes Association (charter member of Chairman Club), past grand councilor of Missouri UCT, and SEMO District Fair Association.

George had been a scoutmaster, troop leader for Explorer Scouts, volunteer with American Red Cross and at Missouri Veterans Home, and past member of Exchange Club, Eagles Aerie, and Elks Lodge. He had also been a radiological instructor with Civil Defense Force.

He served as an aerographer mate third class in the U.S. Navy from July 1942 to October 1945, and served on the USS Yorktown and USS Ancon.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and John Baker of Cape Girardeau; stepson and wife, Joseph and Julie Krueger II of Cape Girar-deau, stepson and fiancee, Ted Krueger and Shirley Maintz of Oak Ridge, Mo.; a stepdaughter and husband, Elizabeth and Darrell Billham of Charleston, S.C., a stepdaughter and fiancee, Carol Poisal and Del Adams of Seymour, Tenn., a stepdaughter and husband, Katherine and Kent Tolson of Cobden, Ill.

Also surviving are grandchildren, Kevin Baker of Delta, Mo., Matt Baker of Cape Girardeau; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Jessica Baker of Cape Girardeau; stepgrandchildren, Arthur Poisal of Crestwood, Mo., Joshua Tolson of Cobden, Samuel Poisal V of Morristown, Tenn., Britany Tolson of Cobden, Seth Tolson of Cobden, Jayson Krueger of Cape Girardeau, Renee Billham of Charles-ton, S.C., Darrell Gene Billham of Cadiz, Ky.; great-stepgrandchildren, Andrew Krueger of Cape Girardeau, Jason Krueger of Cape Girardeau; special friends, Ralph Fuhrmann, Charles "Dopey" Schrader, Skip Kelley and Irvin Garms.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lyman Moore and Robert "Turk" Moore.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. today. The Sons of the American Revolution will conduct a service at 7, followed by an American Legion service.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Douglas C. Breite and the Rev. David V. Dissen will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, with graveside rites by VFW Post 3838.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Baker, Matt Baker, Ted Krueger, Joe Krueger, Kent Tolson, James L. Moore, Scott Maintz and Ronald Joe Moore.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Rev. Joseph Burger, John Robinson, Joe Blackwell, Wayne Smith, Robert Cox, Ferd Sturm, Bill Hoover, Gerald Grigsby, Tony Duben, Leon Palmer, Louie King, Dale Heitman, Homer Schnurbusch, John Eggimann, Norman Huhn, Clem Crain, Floyd Smith, John Smothers, Pete Rhodes, Van Sanders, Joe Singer, Gibb Winschel, Bert Daume, Raymond Roth, Del Adams and Darrell Billham.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran School Building Fund or Saxony Lutheran High School Building Fund.
