Funeral service for George P. Dawson of Washington, Mo., was held Thursday at Oltmann Funeral Chapel in Union. The Rev. Donald Bader officiated, with burial in Midlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Union.
Dawson, 86, died Monday, May 9, 1994.
He was born Aug. 15, 1907, at Caruthersville, son of George H. and Clara Marks Dawson. He first married Alice Bradshaw. He later married Mary Brigman May 11, 1963.
Dawson went into the construction business with Ed Rau in 1946, and he also owned and operated George P. Dawson Rock Quarry in Washington for 40 years.
He was a member of Washington Elks and Masons.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Delores Kluesner of Washington, Donna Fennessey of Labadie, Alice Coleman of Warrenton; seven sons, Jack Dawson of Washington, George Dawson of Sacramento, Calif., David Dawson of New Haven, William Dawson of Villa Ridge, John Dawson of Leslie, Robert Adams of Louisiana, Thomas Adams of Dexter; three sisters, Nelda Politte of DeSoto, Opal Nenninger of Cape Girardeau, Thelma Lovelace of Tucson, Ariz.; two brothers, Daniel Dawson of DeSoto, Hal Dawson of Cadet; 31 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister and brother.
