GEORGE MILLS

SIKESTON -- George N. Mills, 78, of Sikeston died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

He was born July 20, 1920, at Matthews, son of John Thomas and Bertha Ann Lane Mills. He and Stella Ann Hayden Stowe were married Feb. 4, 1967. She died Aug. 21, 1984.

Mills had owned and operated Dependable Window and Awning Co. Since retirement he had been active in Sikeston community service. He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Survivors include a brother, W. W. Mills of Portland, Ore.

He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kelly Grubbs officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
