MARQUAND, Mo. -- George Henry Huffman, 88, of Marquand died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, at Parkland Hospital in Farmington, Mo.
He was born Feb. 26, 1913, near Buckhorn, Mo., son of William Pinkney and Cora Elizabeth Stroup Huffman. He and Ruby Alma Gipson were married May 19,1934.
Mr. Huffman was ordained as a minister at Big Creek Baptist Church in 1937, and pastored rural churches in Bollinger, Madison and Wayne counties. He also pastored at Eminence and Varner River, and served as associational missionary in St. Francis Baptist Association.
He attended Southern Baptist College at Walnut Ridge, Ark., and worked as a teacher, sawmill operator, carpenter, and painter.
Survivors include his wife of the Baptist Home in Ironton, Mo.; two sons, Warren Huffman of Marquand, Keith Huffman of Benton, Mo.; a daughter, Kathryn Ossig of Glen Allen, Mo.; six grandchildren, Anita Flanagan of Cape Girardeau, Dena Zoellner of Jackson, Mo., Leta Starkey of Marquand, Scott Huffman of Marquand, Greg Huffman of Knob Lick, Mo., Becki Huffman of Cape Girardeau; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gilbert Huffman; a sister, Erma Gipson; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Follis and Son Funeral Home in Fredericktown, Mo.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Huffman-McKelvey Cemetery at Marquand.
