George Everett Huber Jr., 79, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011, at the home of his daughter in Sikeston, Mo.

He was born April 1, 1932, at Silver Lake, Mo., to George Everett and Mabel Wills Huber Sr. He and Mary L. Bruner were married Dec. 31, 1954, in St. Louis.

George was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving in the Army from 1952 to 1954.

He was a truck driver with ABF Trucking 25 years, retiring in 1994. He attended St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a member of VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau, Masonic Lodge 209 in Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Teamsters Local in Pennsylvania.

Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Huber of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Jane (Mike) Woods of Sikeston; two sons, Mike (Linda) Huber of Poplar Bluff and Ken W. Huber of Frohna, Mo.; a sister, Betty Smith of Cape Girardeau; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David P. Huber; two brothers; and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kelley Grubbs officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, with full military honors by Missouri Honor Team.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Lung Association.
