George W. Eaker Sr., 91, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born Nov. 21, 1914, in Dunklin County, Mo., son of the late Noah Adam and Ollie Shelton Eaker. He and Lora Lee Eaker were married July 25, 1935, in Bloomfield, Mo.
He served in the U.S. Navy from March 22, 1935, to Dec. 5, 1945, during World War II.
Mr. Eaker was owner/operator of Brune and Eaker Service Station in Cape Girardeau 34 years.
He is survived by his wife, Lora Lee Eaker of Cape Girardeau; two sons, George Eaker Jr. and wife Verna of Cape Girardeau, Don Eaker and wife Judi of Chaffee, Mo.; a daughter, Carol Kranawetter of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren, Lisa Seabaugh of Jackson, Todd Eaker and Lance Eaker of Cape Girardeau, Anne (Kranawetter) Dillon and husband Chris and Paul Kranawetter, all of Anchorage, Alaska; and three great-grandchildren, Taylor Seabaugh and Paige Seabaugh of Jackson, and Matthew Dillon of Anchorage.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home and then again Friday from 9 a.m. to service time.
The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Matthews officiating. Committal will be at 1 p.m. at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
