JACKSON -- George Everett Volz, 77, of St. Louis died Sunday, July 7, 1996, at the Jackson Manor Nursing Home. He was born March 10, 1919, in Canalou, the son of George F. and Flora Asher Volz. He married Drucille Thompson on Sept. 6, 1942. Volz had worked for Rust & Martin for a number of years and then established his own upholstery shop on Silver Springs Road in Cape Girardeau, retiring in 1979. He was a charter member of the Shawnee Hills Southern Baptist Church...

JACKSON -- George Everett Volz, 77, of St. Louis died Sunday, July 7, 1996, at the Jackson Manor Nursing Home.

He was born March 10, 1919, in Canalou, the son of George F. and Flora Asher Volz. He married Drucille Thompson on Sept. 6, 1942.

Volz had worked for Rust & Martin for a number of years and then established his own upholstery shop on Silver Springs Road in Cape Girardeau, retiring in 1979. He was a charter member of the Shawnee Hills Southern Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jean Ann Rivers of St. Louis; seven sisters, Dollie Sawyer of Willow, Alaska, Wanda Lee Riebold, Juliana "Jenny" Hargraves and Retha Morton, all of Jackson, and Levada Daniels, Eulalia McCanless and Loretta Wilson, all of Oak Ridge; two brothers, Elvan "Sonny" Volz of Oak Ridge and Calvin Elson Volz of Marble Hill; and a grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jeff Militti. Burial will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery.
