GEORGE E. MITCHELL

CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Funeral service for George E. Mitchell of Cape Girardeau will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel in Cape Girardeau.

The Rev. Neil Stein will officiate and burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Mr. Mitchell died Sunday at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was 85.

He was born March 27, 1905 at Puxico, and on Dec. 27, 1926, he married the former Eva E. Beird. She preceded him in death Nov. 21, 1990.

He was the manager of Cape Transit Co. for 45 years before his retirement in 1970.

Survivors include two grandsons, Rob Ramey of Jefferson City and Ed Ramey of Springfield; a granddaughter, Mrs. Roberta Hatfield of Springfield; a sister-in-law, Hope Bierd of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He also was preceded in death by a daughter and a granddaughter.
