ORAN, Mo. -- George Diebold, 97, of Oran died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Aug. 30, 1902, at New Hamburg, Mo., son of Theodore and Frances Dohogne Diebold. He and Eleanor L. LeGrand were married Nov. 13, 1934. She died Jan. 1, 2000...

ORAN, Mo. -- George Diebold, 97, of Oran died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 30, 1902, at New Hamburg, Mo., son of Theodore and Frances Dohogne Diebold. He and Eleanor L. LeGrand were married Nov. 13, 1934. She died Jan. 1, 2000.

Diebold was a retired farmer. He was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran and St. Joseph Sodality.

Survivors include two sons, Marvin and Ralph Diebold of Oran; two daughters, Frances Rose Nenninger of St. Ann, Mo., Donna Fisk of Oran; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, with the Rev. Lewis Hejna officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
