BUNCOMBE, Ill. -- George C. "Tom" Newman, 74, of Buncombe, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 1995, at Union County Hospital in Anna.
He was born May 27, 1921, in Fornfelt, Mo., son of John and Susan Grace Newman. He and Marie Luvica Foster were married April 4, 1942, in Jackson, Mo.
Newman was a crane operator at Granite City Steel. He was a member of United Missionary Baptist Church, Jonesboro Masonic Lodge 111, and a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Carolyn Turner of Buncombe, Sandy Brust of Manteno; five sons, Richard Newman of Anna, Dennis and Bruce Newman of Buncombe, Tony Newman of Carbondale, Kenneth Newman of Dongola; a brother, James Newman of Jonesboro; 17 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home from 6-9 p.m. today. Masonic service will be at 7.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ken Wilson officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
