COBDEN, Ill. -- Funeral service for George A. Adams of Cobden will be held at 11 a.m. today at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden. The Rev. DeWayne Taylor will officiate, with burial in Alto Pass Cemetery.

Adams, 77, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 27, 1919, at Tallapoosa, son of George Washington and Hattie M. Reeves Adams. He and Barbara Goldsmith were married Aug. 26, 1960, at Cobden.

Adams retired as a press operator from General Motors Corp. in Willow Springs. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Lisa Adams of Cobden, Sandy Adams of Anna; a brother, Cletis Adams of Makanda; three sisters, Violet Burk of Carbondale, Mildred Riley of Murphysboro, Juanita Stephens of Cambria; and a grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
