BATON ROUGE, La. -- George A. Smith Jr., 51, of Baton Rouge and formerly of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Sept. 24, 1995, at his home. He was married for 28 years to Cathi Popp Smith. A graduate of the Missouri School of Mines and the University of Missouri-Rolla, he worked in the chemical industry for 28 years, most recently as regional director of ecology and safety at BASF Corp. in Geismar, La. BATON ROUGE, La. -- George A. Smith Jr., 51, of Baton Rouge and formerly of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Sept. 24, 1995, at his home.

He was married for 28 years to Cathi Popp Smith. A graduate of the Missouri School of Mines and the University of Missouri-Rolla, he worked in the chemical industry for 28 years, most recently as regional director of ecology and safety at BASF Corp. in Geismar, La. He retired in June of 1995.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Chris W. Smith and Kevin D. Smith of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Pat Black of Indianapolis, Ind., and Sue Smith of Rochester, N.Y.

Visitation and funeral service will be at Baton Rouge, under the direction of Rabenhorst East Funeral Home of Baton Rouge.
