LEOPOLD -- George Anthony Landewee, 86, of Leopold died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 6, 1906, at Leopold, the son of Anthony and Rose VanGennip Landewee. On April 30, 1935, he married Mary E. Trankle at Leopold. She survives of the home.
He was a farmer and a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold. He also was a charter member of the Leopold Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include a son, Anthony Landewee of Kelso; five daughters, Betty J. Kuss of Cape Girardeau, Wilma Wolsenkoehler of Moore, Okla., Mary Ann Hagan of Chaffee, Geraldine Elfrink of Marble Hill and Theresa Landewee of Leopold; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two step, great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister and three grandchildren.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, where parish prayers will be at 7:30 and a Knights of Columbus Rosary is scheduled for 8.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold. The Rev. Robert Landewee, nephew of the deceased, and the Rev. Michael J. Casteel will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Local arrangements are being handled by Lorberg Memorial Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
