Genevieve Pauline Schloss, 93, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at The Lutheran Home.
She was born Sept. 8, 1924, in Apple Creek, Missouri, to Anton and Bertha Unterreiner Ponder. Genevieve and Merlin Schloss were married Oct. 5, 1948, at Apple Creek. He died April 7, 1995.
She was a member of St. Mary Cathedral, St. Ann Sodality, St. Mary�s Quilting Club, Council of Catholic Women and VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons, Larry (Brenda) Schloss of Cape Girardeau and Stephen (Carolyn) Schloss of St. Louis; two daughters, Janet (Greg) Oller of Branson, Missouri, and Sandy (David) Hinkle of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Robert Ponder of St. Louis and Edgar Ponder of Perryville, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Erin Schloss, Emily Goodin, Abby Burch, Julie Fox, Bryan Cossiboom, Christopher Hinkle and Caitlin Culver; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Virginia Wibbenmeyer and Antonia Schnurbusch; and one brother, Norbert Ponder.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Funeral Home-Sprigg Street Chapel in Cape Girardeau. A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Cathedral in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Rayappa �Roy� Chinnabathini officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary�s Cathedral Parish or St. Mary Cathedral School.
