THEBES, Ill. -- Genevia Shafer, 71, of Thebes, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1993, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born July 2, 1922, at Thebes, daughter of Archie Rhea and Runa Tucker Guess.
She married Leland "Chief" Shafer, Nov. 28, 1951. He died Oct. 31, 1981.
Shafer was the retired Postmaster of Thebes.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Thebes, and a member of the Thebes Historical Society and other civic organizations.
Survivors include two sons, Jim Shafer and Larry Shafer, both of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Gladys Stamp of Thebes; and two grandchildren.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today and until 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, at the Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Thebes, with the Rev. Carl D. Fisher officiating.
Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery at Thebes.
