CHARLESTON -- Funeral service for Geneva Deanne Mullen of Smithville, Ark., will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Methodist Church in Smithville, with the Revs. Wayne Clark and Patricia Sims officiating. Burial will be in Hillhouse Cemetery in Jesup, Ark.
Higginbotham Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge, Ark., is in charge of arrangements.
Mullen, 79, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
She was born Nov. 15, 1918, at Jesup, daughter of Benjamin Milton and Bernice Vernoy Baker Hillhouse. She and Claude Durham Mullen were married June 1, 1947.
Mullen had been a postmaster and worked in the Hillhouse General Store in Jesup. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Smithville, sang in the choir, was a Sunday School and Bible School teacher. She was a member of an extension club and Rural Carriers Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Sue Smith of Piggott, Ark.; a sister, Helen Robins of Batesville, Ark.; a brother, Ray Hillhouse of Charleston; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
