Geneva M. Johns, age 85, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, after a long illness at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Jan. 30, 1920, at Glen Allen, Mo., daughter of Marion and Myrtle Whittenberg McDaniel. She and Olin Johns were married April 26, 1940.
Geneva was a member of Maple Avenue United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking for friends and family, and quilting.
Loving survivors include her husband, Olin; a son, Roger Johns and wife Tammy of Kerrville, Texas; two daughters, Janet Ottomeyer and husband Dale of House Springs, Mo., Susan Sullivan and husband Patrick of Wilmington, N.C.; one sister, Beatrice Elmore of East Alton, Ill.; one brother, Jack McDaniel of Oblong, Ill.; six grandchildren, Sandra, Adam, David, Matt, Paul, Niki; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Elizabeth Ottomeyer, and three brothers.
Friends may call Sunday, Aug. 21, between 2 and 4 p.m. at the McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
A memorial service will be Sunday at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jim Cooper officiating.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association.
