Geneva Elizabeth Elfrink, 78, of Jackson, formerly of Leopold, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at her home, under the care of her husband and Southeast Hospice.
She was born May 26, 1930, in Lutesville, Mo., daughter of Joseph H. and Regina M. Koenig Thele. She married Richard J. Elfrink on May 24, 1952, at St. John Catholic Church in Leopold.
Geneva resided in Leopold and was a member of St. John Church until July 2007 when she and Richard moved to Jackson and became members of Immaculate Conception Parish.
Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Richard; two daughters, Mary Karen (Jerry) Roe of Cape Girardeau, JoAnn (Brian) Barrett of Marble Hill; a grandson, Scott (Kristen) Roe of Cape Girardeau; four granddaughters, Rebecca and Lisa Roe of St. Louis, Bryanna (Dustin) Wareing of Jackson, Jennifer Barrett of Murray, Ky.; and a great-granddaughter, Mia Jane Roe.
Also surviving are two sisters, Loretta Aschoff of St. Charles, Mo., Anna (Ted) Kiefer of St. Peters, Mo., and a sister-in-law, Hazel Thele of Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, David in 1981 and Dale in 1995; a brother; and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. Parish prayers will be at 6.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John Church, with the Rev. John Harth as celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, the American Cancer Society or Southeast Hospice.
