Geneva F. DuMay, 77, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born April 17, 1932, in Morley, Mo., daughter of Miller and Bessie Rodgers Gilliland. She and Leon J. DuMay were married Jan. 15, 1949, at Sikeston, Mo.
Geneva was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral. She was the oldest of 12 children, mother to many and a loving grandmother to all.
Survivors include her husband, Leon J. DuMay of Cape Girardeau; three sons, Robert and Tina DuMay of St. Peters, Mo., Tom and Sandy DuMay of Loganville, Ga., Gary DuMay of Independence, Mo.; five brothers, Billy Gilliland of Chaffee, Mo., Henry Gilliland of Morley, Robert Gilliland of Warsaw, Mo., Leonard Gilliland of Arnold, Mo., David Gilliland of Thayer, Mo.; five sisters, Jackie Alexander of Boston, Mass., Geraldine Coulter of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Nancy Pruitt of Morley, Dianna Thatcher and Janet Blackburn of Sikeston, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and her parents.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Parish prayers will be at 7.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
