JACKSON, Mo. -- Gene Raymon Statler, 56, of Jackson died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at his home. He was born Sept. 13, 1944, in Cape Girardeau, son of Raymon R. and Aline Frentzel Statler. He and Anna Dean Lohman were married June 29, 1963. Statler was a 1962 graduate of Jackson High School. While attending Southeast Missouri State University he worked at McCombs Funeral Home and the former McCombs Furniture Store in Jackson. JACKSON, Mo. -- Gene Raymon Statler, 56, of Jackson died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at his home.

He was born Sept. 13, 1944, in Cape Girardeau, son of Raymon R. and Aline Frentzel Statler. He and Anna Dean Lohman were married June 29, 1963.

Statler was a 1962 graduate of Jackson High School. While attending Southeast Missouri State University he worked at McCombs Funeral Home and the former McCombs Furniture Store in Jackson. He received a bachelor's degree in 1966, and a master's degree later.

He was an elementary teacher in Bell City, Mo., for 18 months. He was elementary school principal in the Scott County Central District 29 years, retiring in 1999 because of health complications.

Statler was a lifelong member of Missouri Teachers Association, and St. Paul Lutheran Church, and member of Southeast Missouri Principals Association.

Survivors include a son, Brent Statler of St. Charles, Mo.; two daughters, Holly Statler and Mindy Statler of Jackson; a sister, Cheryl Knapp of Whitewater, Mo.; and a grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 3-8 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Henrichs officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
