'GENE' JACKSON

DELTA -- Eugene "Gene" Jackson, 65, of Delta died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Jan. 12, 1934, at Whitewater, son of Walter and Lorene L. Stroder Jackson. He and Deloris Parker were married Aug. 15, 1953, at Arbor.

Jackson had worked as a maintenance supervisor for Delta schools until his retirement. He was a member of Randles General Baptist Church and a trustee for the church. He was a former assistant fire chief for the Delta Volunteer Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Mitchell Jackson of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Deborah Lancaster and Cheryl Jackson, both of Jackson; two brothers, Roy Jackson of Jonesboro, Ill., and Jackie Jackson of Delta; a sister, Pauline Tonsor of East Peoria, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Keith Price officiating. Burial will be in Friend Cemetery in Oran.
