ANNA, Ill. -- Gene R. "Doc" Haynes, 70, of Anna died Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Feb. 3, 1935, at Lowndes, Mo., son of Ulus and Maude Shetley Haynes. He and Bonnie J. Martin were married July 21, 1956, in Corinth, Miss.

Haynes was a self-employed logger most of his life. He attended Oasis of Grace Church.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Steve Haynes of Anna, David Haynes of Jonesboro, Ill., John Haynes of Memphis, Tenn.; three daughters, Jeannie Carter and Cathy Boyd of Cobden, Ill., Angie Robinson of Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, Keith Haynes of Jackson, Jerry Haynes of St. Peters, Mo.; three sisters, Wanda Durham of Troy, Mo., Joyce Fox of Alton, Ill., Betty Demelle of Florissant, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and three sisters.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 11:30 a.m. Friday until time of service.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Randy Wheaton officiating. Burial will be in Casper Cemetery with full military honors by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455.
