SIKESTON -- Gene Godwin, 69, of Sikeston, died Monday, March 8, 1993, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 17, 1923, in New Madrid County, son of Odes and Vada Vaughn Godwin. He and Wanda Gale Stallings were married Oct. 17, 1947. She died Aug. 12, 1980. He and Helen Collins were married June 5, 1982.
Godwin worked at Buckner-Ragsdale 23 years, and was owner/operator of Bon-Jean seven years. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, VFW 3174, Sikeston Eagles and American Legion. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Gayle Baker of Sikeston; two stepsons, Terry and Mike Collins of Sikeston; a stepdaughter, Joni Kruger of Sikeston; two sisters, Blanche Brooks of San Jose, Calif., Bernice Deane of Los Angeles, Calif.; two grandsons; five stepgrandchildren, and a great-stepgrandchild.
He was preceded in death by a sister and stepson.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ponder Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Tom Geers will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
