CANALOU -- Grover David "G.D." Drake, 71, of Canalou, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 1995, at his home.
He was born Aug. 31, 1923, in Canalou, son of Grover T. and Helen Bean Drake. He and Iris Blankenship were married Oct. 4, 1946.
Drake had been a plate cutter at Union Carbide in Kokomo, Ind. He was a member of the VFW Post and Disabled American Veterans Chapter in Sikeston. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include a son, Larry Drake of Essex; two daughters, Gloria Chaney of Canalou, Becky Stafford of Dexter; two brothers, Charles Drake of Poplar Bluff, Larry Drake of Canalou; two sisters, Daphna Dorrell of Charleston, Carolyn Graham of Republic; 16 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston from 5-8 p.m. today. A DAV service will be held at 7.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Revs. Fred Ritter and Mike Cartwright officiating. Burial will be in Matthews Cemetery.
