THEBES, Ill. -- Gaynelle Berndt, 88, of Thebes died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at her home.
She was born Oct. 20, 1912, at Thebes, daughter of John and Della Simpkins Rimer. She married Herbert Frank Berndt, who died June 22, 2000.
Berndt retired as a bookkeeper at Allic Oil Terminal in Gale, Ill. She was a member of First Baptist Church, United Methodist Women, past treasurer of the church, and was organist for more than 50 years. She was a member of Thebes Historical Society and Thebes Women's Club.
Survivors include a sister, Lou Miller of Mascoutah, Ill.
She was preceded in death by a brother.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Carl D. Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service.
