FROHNA, Mo. -- Gary D. Scholl of Frohna died Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was 57.

He was born Sept. 19, 1951, in Perry County, Mo., son of the late Arthur P. and Elvira Popp Scholl. He was married Oct. 7, 1978, to Peggy Schmidt Scholl, who survives in Frohna.

Other survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Jeremiah Kohlfeld of Perryville, Mo.; a son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Shandy Scholl of Frohna; two brothers and sisters-in-law; Marvin and Kathy Scholl of Frohna and James and Marcy Scholl of St. Louis; two grandchildren, Mallory Kohlfeld and Brynnly Scholl.

Gary was previously owner and manager of West End Grocery in Frohna. He was a member, usher and elder at Concordia Lutheran Church, Men's Club, a member of East Perry County Jaycees, East Perry County Fair Association, Frohna Recreation Club and Perry County Mutual Insurance Co.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 6:30 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Funeral service for Gary will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Concordia Lutheran Church in Frohna, with the Rev. Rod Benkendorf offficiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Concordia Lutheran School Energy Efficiency Fund or Saxony Lutheran High School.

Young and Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Perryville provided the arrangements.
