Gary Ryerson

Gary Lee Ryerson, 44, of Annapolis, Mo., formerly of Austin, Minn., died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, in St. Louis.

He was born Dec. 11, 1964, in Britt, Iowa, to Paul L. and Carol Dee Hickman Ryerson. Gary grew up in Austin and married Becky Smith on July 21, 1990, in Albert Lea, Minn.

Ryerson worked at Quality Pork Products more than eight years, for Tandem in Blooming Prairie, Minn., two years, and most recently as a machine operator at Spartech Plastics in Cape Girardeau.

He enjoyed racing, hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. Gary will be dearly missed by all.

Survivors include his wife, Becky Ryerson of Austin; his father, Paul Ryerson of Scott City; six grandchildren, Felisha, Tyler, Devin Lee, Alex, Sky and Tiffany; a sister, Sheryl Battin of Austin; two nieces, Cassandra and Haley Battin of Austin; grandmother, Ruvella (Harry) Barnd of Mason City, Iowa; two stepdaughters, Heidi (Allen) Haskin and Teresa (Haven) Dolph of Austin; many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol, and a granddaughter, Jessica.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, with Dan Kahl officiating. Interment will be in Deer Creek Valley Lutheran Cemetery in rural London, Minn.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials.
