SCOTT CITY -- Gary Frederick Runnels, 57, of Scott City died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 1996, at Belleville Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill.
He was born Aug. 27, 1939, at Crump, son of Dealing and Mildred Brown Runnels.
Runnels was a retired conductor with Southern Pacific Railroad. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He moved to Scott City in 1962 from Jackson. He was a member of United Transportation Union, Eagles Aerie and Elks Lodge in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include a son, Kevin Runnels of St. Louis; two daughters, Laurie Glastetter of Benton, Lisa Runnels of Paducah, Ky.; his parents of Jackson; three brothers, Larry and Jeff Runnels of Pocahontas, Joe Runnels of Jackson; three sisters, Gloria McSpadden, Lela Green and Katy Green, all of Jackson; and a grandchild.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City after 3 p.m. Friday.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Revs. Jere Gowin and Rennie Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery at Fredericktown.
