Gary Joe Riggins, 75, of Cape Girardeau passed away Sunday, April 26, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born May 8, 1944, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, the son of Roy V. and Anna Mae Sisney Riggins. He and Glenda Sisco were married April 10, 1965. She survives.

Gary was a 1962 graduate of Poplar Bluff High School, where he played football, basketball and track. He was the senior class president. He attended Murray State University and Southern Baptist College in Arkansas.

He served in the Missouri Army National Guard from 1966 to 1972, being discharged at the rank of E-6 staff sergeant.

Gary was employed at Smith-Alsop Paint Co., Southwestern Bell Telephone and retired from Wetterau/Supervalu Foods in Scott City as the fleet manager. After retirement, he started Riggins Enterprise LLC, doing home remodeling and repairs.

He was an avid sportsman, playing fast-pitch softball and golfing at Kimbeland Country Club in Jackson. He enjoyed going hunting and fishing with his son. He was a member of Cape County Cowboy Church.

Loving survivors include his wife of 55 years, Glenda Riggins; son, Jeff (Deborah) Riggins of Cave Creek, Arizona; granddaughters, Courtney, Alissa and Payton; and sister, Cheryl (Brent) Tolson of Winfield, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation was accorded by McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

A graveside service will be held at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.

The family suggests contributions be made to Cape County Cowboy Church.
