Gary Hugh Reynolds, 87, of Whitewater died peacefully Monday, July 25, 2022, at his family farmstead.

He was born Dec. 16, 1934, near Burfordville to Otis and Aza Helderman Reynolds. On Nov. 6, 1953, Gary married Mildred Proffer Reynolds, and together they had two children, Carla and Scott.

Gary attended Council Ridge School through eighth grade and then Delta High School, while later completing a certification in heating and cooling. He worked at multiple shoe factories, including Florsheim Shoe Company in Cape Girardeau, from which he retired in 1995.

Gary loved traveling with family, the St. Louis Cardinals, gospel and classic country music, fishing and hunting, working on his family farm, designing and building furniture for his grandchildren, and could fix anything in his own unique way. He also enjoyed his longtime involvement in the Whitewater United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir, was a member of United Methodist Men, served a term as president of the board, and was the Sunday morning bell ringer.

He is survived by his son, Scott (Pam) Reynolds of Whitewater; three grandchildren, Crystal (Nick) Clayton of Plano, Texas; Kyle (Kylie) Reynolds of Forsyth, Illinois; and Garret (Haylee) Reynolds of Northlake, Texas; and three great-granddaughters, Vivianne Clayton of Plano, Eloise Reynolds of Forsyth and Oaklee Reynolds of Northlake, Texas. Also surviving is a niece, Patty Turner, and nephew, Steve Stroder.
