Gary Wayne Dennis, 50, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He was born Oct. 4, 1950, in Granite City, Ill., son of Omar and Vivian Watson Dennis. He and Nancy Kiehl were married June 15, 1990. Dennis had been a cook at the former Howard Johnson and had also worked at Wal-Mart, Chateau Girardeau and most recently at Heartland Care and Rehab Center. Gary Wayne Dennis, 50, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born Oct. 4, 1950, in Granite City, Ill., son of Omar and Vivian Watson Dennis. He and Nancy Kiehl were married June 15, 1990.

Dennis had been a cook at the former Howard Johnson and had also worked at Wal-Mart, Chateau Girardeau and most recently at Heartland Care and Rehab Center. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3838.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1969-76.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael Dennis of Fayetteville, N.C.; his mother, Vivian Burton of Cape Gir-ardeau; two brothers, Danny Dennis of Kingston, Ill., David Dennis of Jackson, Mo.; and a sister, Donna McCarty of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau after 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donald Kuehle officiating. Military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 3838. Private burial will be held later.
