Gary Wayne Cook, 61, of Burfordville passed away Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, at his home. He was born Feb. 3, 1948, north of Burfordville, son of Orville and Mildred Hanners Cook. Gary attended the former Burfordville School. He worked at Jackson Co-op, Sailer Roofing Co., Drury Construction and Contrend Inc. in Cape Girardeau. Gary Wayne Cook, 61, of Burfordville passed away Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, at his home.

He was born Feb. 3, 1948, north of Burfordville, son of Orville and Mildred Hanners Cook.

Gary attended the former Burfordville School. He worked at Jackson Co-op, Sailer Roofing Co., Drury Construction and Contrend Inc. in Cape Girardeau. He had been unable to work the past nine years due to his health.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed going to shooting matches.

Loving survivors include his companion of 26 years, Wanda Choate; two stepdaughters, Rhonda (Mike) Williams of Jackson, Lisa (Chris) Wendel of Burfordville; two brothers, Raymond Cook of Burfordville, Oda (Grace) Cook of Millersville; four grandchildren, Brittany and Tiffany Oliver, and Caleb and Haleigh Wendel; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kevin Rhodes officiating. Interment will follow in Cook Cemetery at Scopus, Mo.

Memorials may be made to the Cook Family Memorial, c/o McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
