Garry Leon Stone Sr., 73, of Jackson, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at his home near Jackson.
He was born June 11, 1942, in Chaffee, Missouri, to Leon Edward and Edna Mae Heatley Stone.
He and Paulette Martin were married July 14, 1961, in Oak Ridge, Missouri. They shared 54 years together.
Garry attended St. Paul Lutheran grade school and Jackson High School.
He drove a truck for Tucker Truck Lines and Inman Freight for 17 years.
He then drove over the road as an owner-operator until his retirement.
Garry was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and served as a Sunday School teacher and usher.
Garry is survived by his wife, Paulette Stone of Jackson.
Garry was blessed with four sons who survive, Garry Stone Jr. and friend Amy Wilfawn, Tony (Heidi) Stone, Tim (Becky) Stone and Jeff Stone, all of Jackson. Garry also is survived by his pride and joy, 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, Jodie (Tony) Barks of Oak Ridge, Lacie (Derek) Hammond of Licking, Missouri, Angel (Michael) Kinder of Jackson, Dylan, Michala, Mackenzie, Austin, Morgan, Tyler and Landon Stone, all of Jackson, Macy and Mason Kinder, Kody and Emma Barks, Kyson Cook and Kayden Hammond.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Larry Stone of Cape Girardeau and Tarry Stone of Jackson; and a granddaughter, Makenna Stone, our guardian angel.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Jackson and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Joshua Schmidt officiating.
Burial will be in St. John's United Church of Christ Cemetery near Fruitland.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Paul Lutheran School or to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
