EAST PRAIRIE -- Gale Norman Carden, 58, of Tamaroa, Ill., formerly of East Prairie, died Friday, July 29, 1994, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, Ill.

He was born June 2, 1936, at Wolf Island, son of Arvel W. and Anna May Stockton Carden.

He married Barbara D. Branam, June 27, 1964.

Carden was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army.

He was a farmer and timberman. Carden was also a member of the Tamaroa Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include his mother; his wife; a son, Stacey Carden of Tamaroa, Ill.; a daughter Gayla Carden of Natchez, Miss.; two stepsons, Michael Ward of Macedonia, Ill., John Ward of Bude, Miss.; two brothers, Wallace Carden of Sikeston , Dan Carden of Montgomery, Ala.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Monday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jackie J. Davidson officiating.

Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
