CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Gail Renee Dumey, 56, of Chaffee passed away Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born May 15, 1961, in Cape Girardeau to the late Philip A. and Doris Jean Klipfel Walter. She and Randy Dumey married July 27, 1979, and he survives of the home.
Gail was a homemaker in her own home and spent most of her days in the role of "Grammy" to her grandchildren and was a lover of all animals. Kids flocked to her, and called her "Cookie" because she was a big kid herself, and the cookie jar was never empty.
She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee. She was a member of Daughters of St. Ambrose.
She is survived by her loving husband, Randy Dumey; a son, Jamey (Amy) Dumey of Chaffee; four brothers, Randy (June) Walter of Oran, Missouri, Kim (Cheryl) Walter of Oran, Danny (Gail) Walter of Chaffee and Scott (Sandy) Walter of Oran; five sisters, Carla (Bennie) Ray of Oran, Donna Dinges of Oran, Karen (John) Pobst of Scott City, Cindy (Neal) Seyer of Oran and Sandy (Mark) Mahurin of Bloomington, Indiana; three grandchildren, Alyssa, Aiden and Reid Dumey of Chaffee; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Ron Walter, and a sister, Sharlett Eftink.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Chaffee. Parish prayers will be at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop officiating. Burial will be at St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery in Chaffee.
