Gabriel Alexander "Gabe" Mandry, 31, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021, near Nashville, Tennessee, in an automobile accident. Gabriel Alexander "Gabe" Mandry, 31, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021, near Nashville, Tennessee, in an automobile accident.

Gabe was born Aug. 3, 1990, in Anchorage, Alaska, to Kevin and Emily Friedrich Mandry. He and Samantha Purifoy were married Oct. 11, 2014, in an outdoor ceremony at the home of a cousin near Allenville. Two sons were born to their union, David and Micah Mandry.

In June 2021, Gabe and his family moved from Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Cape Girardeau.

Gabe was a 2009 home-school graduate. He worked five years at Chick-Fil-a in Colorado Springs. He then worked many years as a building manager at McAuliffe Elementary School in Colorado Springs. He was currently employed as a material handler at Cape Electrical Supply in Cape Girardeau.

Not only did Gabe love his family deeply, but he also truly had a heart for the Lord. He was a longtime member of First Southern Baptist Church in Colorado Springs, where he was a youth leader and ordained deacon. He also served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher at Heritage Baptist Church in Colorado Springs. He and Sammi were currently attending Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau and were looking forward to teaching Sunday school.

To cherish his memory, Gabe leaves his wife of seven years, Samantha, and their sons of Cape Girardeau; his parents, Kevin and Emily Mandry, and two brothers, Jonathan (Rebecca) Mandry and Peter Mandry, all of Colorado Springs; maternal grandmother, Maxine Friedrich of Jackson; father-in-law, Clay (Rhyen) Purifoy of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; mother-in-law, Lisa Herring of Ash, North Carolina; Sammi's paternal grandparents, Bennie (Linda) Purifoy of South Carolina, and Sammi's maternal grandfather, Pinkie Herring of Ash.

Gabe was preceded in death by Sammi's brother, David Purifoy; paternal grandparents, Raymond and Ruth Mandry; maternal grandfather, C. Earl Friedrich; Sammi's paternal grandmother, Von Purifoy, and her maternal grandmother, Lucy Herring.

To celebrate Gabe's life, the Rev. Mark Anderson will conduct a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.
