Frieda Clara Scheffer, 91 years of age, passed away peacefully at her home March 16, 2007, surrounded by her family. She was born to Lawrence and Mathilda Bullinger Schaefer on May 2, 1915. She married Paul Scheffer in 1938. Together they had seven children; Paul Joseph Scheffer and Marcy of Oak Ridge, Elaine Haney and David of East Prairie, Mo., Dorothy Lynch of Morehouse, Mo., Ellen Chrostoski of Sikeston, Mo., LaDonna Triplett and Jamie of Eldorado, Ill., Arthur Scheffer and Loretta of Galatia, Ill., and Robert Scheffer and Sandi of East Carondolet, Ill.. ...

Frieda Clara Scheffer, 91 years of age, passed away peacefully at her home March 16, 2007, surrounded by her family.

She was born to Lawrence and Mathilda Bullinger Schaefer on May 2, 1915. She married Paul Scheffer in 1938.

Together they had seven children; Paul Joseph Scheffer and Marcy of Oak Ridge, Elaine Haney and David of East Prairie, Mo., Dorothy Lynch of Morehouse, Mo., Ellen Chrostoski of Sikeston, Mo., LaDonna Triplett and Jamie of Eldorado, Ill., Arthur Scheffer and Loretta of Galatia, Ill., and Robert Scheffer and Sandi of East Carondolet, Ill.

Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Roy Schaefer and Agnes of Peoria, Ill.; two sisters, Dora "Johnnie" Koehler of Jackson, Rose Baugus and C.A. of Benton, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; a grandchild; and five brothers; Zeno, Arnold, Otto, Cleophas and Theon Schaefer.

Frieda was known for her quilting and cooking skills. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson, Daughters of Isabella, Knights of Columbus Women's Auxiliary, DAV Women's Auxiliary, and VFW Women's Auxiliary, all of Jackson. She volunteered her soup-making skill to the American Red Cross Blood Drive for several years. She served on the Knights of Columbus Kitchen Committee for many years.

The family is deeply appreciative of all the special care given to Frieda by her in-home caregivers and hospice.

She was loved by many and a complete joy to be around.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2007, at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, with parish prayers at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2007, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Monsignor Edward Eftink officiating, assisted by the Rev. Scott Sunnenberg and Monsignor Richard Rolwing. Burial in Texas Bend Cemetery in Charleston, Mo. Pall bearers will be her grandsons.

Memorials may be made to Crown Hospice.
