NEELYS LANDING -- Funeral service for Frieda Ackman of Carlsbad, N.M., was held Nov. 6 at Hillcrest United Methodist Church. The Rev. Joe Barthlow officiated, with burial in Carlsbad Cemetery.
Ackman, 79, died Monday, Nov. 3, 1997, at Columbia Medical Center in Carlsbad.
She was born May 21, 1918, at Neelys Landing, daughter of Eavon Benjamin and Bertha Kathryn Pinkerton. She and Clifford Ackman were married Oct. 25, 1941.
Ackman was reared at Neelys Landing. She and her husband had owned and operated a grocery store in Cape Girardeau. They moved to Carlsbad in 1951.
She was a member of Hillcrest Church and its United Methodist Women, Los Amigos Good Sams, and Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Mike Ackman of Carlsbad; a daughter, Cathy Reed of Carlsbad; and four grandsons.
