DELTA -- Frenton H. McManus of Delta died Saturday, May 23, 1998, at the Chaffee Nursing Center. He was 89.
He was born Sept. 20, 1908, in Sparta, Ill., son of Harvey and Margaret Cox McManus. He married Pearl Stroder on Oct. 3, 1929. She survives.
He had lived in Missouri since the age of 7. From 1932 through 1949 he lived on a farm south of Burfordville. He moved to Delta to farm in 1950.
He was a former member of the Burfordville Baptist Church, moving his membership to the Delta First Baptist Church when he moved to Delta. He had been at the nursing home the past six months.
He is also survived by a son, Bob McManus of Delta; two daughters, Evelyn Gass of Cape Girardeau and Ella Dee Jinks of Houston, Texas; a sister, Phyllis Dockins Lewis of Jackson; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, three brothers, sister and two granddaughters.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Glen Golden officiating.
Burial will be at the Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
