Fredia Cornell, 82, of Millersville passed away Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Aug. 20, 1920, at Marquand, Mo., daughter of George A. and Lillie B. Newell Smith. She and Cline Welker were married Dec. 22, 1938. He died March 2, 1959. She later married Dale Cornell Feb. 21, 1969. He passed away Dec. 17, 1990.
Fredia worked at the former International Shoe Co. in Jackson. She was a member of Calvary United Pentecostal Church in Jackson, and in her early years was very active at the church.
Loving survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Sherry Welker of Millersville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and Richard Welker of Millersville, Opal and Don Drum of Perryville, Mo.; a brother, Jessie Smith of Marble Hill, Mo.; two sisters, Betty Williamson of Cape Girardeau, Edna Seabaugh of Jackson; five grandchildren, Casey and Dale Robert Welker, Michelle Welker, Shelly Nichole Drum, William Drum; and two great grandchildren, Marcus and Da'on.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gary; three brothers, and three sisters.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Gerald Hamlett and the Rev. Ronnie Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Old Salem Methodist Church Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Old Salem Cemetery Fund.
