CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Frederick Michael Siebert, 86, of Chaffee died Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 30, 1917, in Ste. Genevieve, Mo., son of Anton P. and Margareth M. Simon Siebert. He and Hilda M. Schilli were married Aug. 7, 1948. She preceded him in death June 15, 2003.
Fred was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the Soutwest Pacific Theater. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star at New Guinea.
He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and St. Ambrose Men's Club in Chaffee, Knights of Columbus Council 6420 in Scott City, and Chaffee VFW Post 3127. He was a White House Retreat member, and served on the Farm Bureau Board of Directors.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Siebert of Montgomery, Ala., Francis Siebert of Chaffee; two daughters, Mary Schroepfer of Fenton, Mo., Paula Horrell of Chaffee; two brothers, Cletus Siebert of Ste. Genevieve, the Rev. Anthony Siebert of Belize, Central America; a sister, Mary Ann Meyer of Ste. Genevieve; 14 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph Siebert, John Siebert and Paul Siebert.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Parish prayers will be at 7, followed by KC prayers at 7:15.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, with the Rev. Anthony Siebert and the Rev. Ralph Duffner as co-celebrants. Burial will be in St. Ambrose Cemetery, with full military honors.
Pallbearers will be Michael Siebert, Stephen Siebert, Vincent Horrell, Levi Horrell, Daniel Siebert and Anthony Siebert.
