STURDIVANT -- Freddie W. Simmers, 54, of Sturdivant died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 1991, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis due to a sudden illness.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the Morgan Funeral Home in Advance.

He was born Dec. 13, 1936, near Advance to Vernie and Grace Simmers and proceeded the later

He worked for the past 14 years as a diesel mechanic at Mirly's Truck Salvage in Advance.

He married Betty Lou Buttry on May 31, 1958, in Hernado, Miss. She survives.

Other survivors include his mother of Advance; five sons, Tim Simmers and Gary Simmers of Cape Girardeau, Dennis Simmers of Sturdivant, Todd Simmers of Puxico, and Chris Simmers of the home; two sisters, Laverne Harty of Zalma, and Geraldine Evans of Puxico, two granddaughters and one grandson.

He was proceeded in death by his father and one grandson.

Service will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. the Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.

The Rev. Dan Sitze, pastor of the General Baptist Church of Bloomfield, will officiate.

Burial will be in the Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
