Funeral service for Fred O. Riske of Shenandoah, Iowa, will be held at 1 p.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church in Shenandoah. The Rev. Steven Teske will officiate, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery at Shenandoah.
Riske, 88, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 1996, at Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah.
He was born Jan. 28, 1908, at Elmont, son of John Louis and Elizabeth Marie Mueller Riske. He and Vilma Viola Kelso were married July 22, 1953.
Riske farmed with his father until moving to Shenandoah in 1948. He later worked at Mt. Arbor Nurseries until the late 1960s, and then did private lawn work and delivered newspapers. He was a member of Trinity Church.
Survivors include his wife; six sisters, Alberta Heimbaugh of Cape Girardeau, Edith Koch of Bourbon, Elnor Merritt of Solon Springs, Wis., Leona Hoehne of Brazeau, Lydia Hennig of Kelowna, B.C., Canada, and Nadine Riske of St. Louis.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.
