Funeral service for Fred R. Smith of Cape Girardeau will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. William Burke will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
Smith, 88, of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1993, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born July 27, 1905, at Seventy Six, son of Louis E. and Ida Penny Smith. He and Marie L. Davis were married Oct. 9, 1926, in Jackson. She died Nov. 14, 1975.
Smith worked at a shoe factory 45 years, and also operated Swan Flower Shop in Cape Girardeau and Marble Hill from 1949-65. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include three sons, Fred Wayne and Don Smith of Cape Girardeau, Gary Smith of Arkansas; a daughter, June Swan of Fresno, Calif.; three sisters, Irma Sparkman of Medford, Ore., Zelma Gala of Ullin, Ill., Mamie Freeze of Cape Girardeau; nine grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren.
