Fred Oberbeck

Fred William Oberbeck, 87, of Jackson died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at Jackson Manor.

He was born Jan. 26, 1915, in Cape Girardeau, son of Otto and Rosie Kurre Oberbeck. He and Ida H. Hanschen were married March 18, 1939. She died Sept. 30, 1996.

Mr. Oberbeck was a tractor mechanic at International and Jackson Implement Co. in Jackson, and Heuer's Massey-Ferguson in Cape Girardeau. He also worked for Meier Angus Farms several years, was a bus driver for Cape Girardeau Public Schools, and had worked part time at Pioneer Orchard.

He had been a volunteer at Jackson Manor, and was a member of Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in- law, Carolyn and Homer Millikan of Sedgewickville, Mo.; two brothers, Glenn Oberbeck of Lohman, Mo., Eppie Oberbeck of Hayti, Mo.; three granddaughters and spouses, Bobbie and Ivan Welker, Kara and Mike Magill and Wendy and Adam Parish, all of Sedgewickville; three great-grandchildren, Jesse William Haertling, Alicia Marie Haertling and Samantha Jo Welker, all of Sedgewickville; and a great-stepgrandson, Owen Parish of Sedgewickville.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Rosie Meier.

Friends may call at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. William Matzat officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
