McCLURE, Ill. -- Fred L. Burton Sr., 60, died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Aug. 28, 1937, at Wolf Lake, son of William and Mollie Ellon Knupp Burton. He and Carolyn Keifer were married. McCLURE, Ill. -- Fred L. Burton Sr., 60, died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 28, 1937, at Wolf Lake, son of William and Mollie Ellon Knupp Burton. He and Carolyn Keifer were married.

Burton worked as a truck driver for Rose Brothers and Jerry Lipps companies.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Glena Brown of Ullin, Danielle Ellon LaBruzza of Baton Rouge, La., Sharon Burton of Goodlettsville, Tenn., and Rhonda Curtis of Tamms; two sons, Fred Burton Jr. of Tamms and Jerry Joe Burton of McClure; his mother, Ellon Davis of Tamms; seven brothers, William Burton of Henderson, Tenn., Jake Burton of Mounds, Buck and David Burton, both of Tamms, Paul Burton of Olive Branch, Tony Burton of Thebes, Bob Burton of Unity; five sisters, Ruth Ashworth of Unity, Viola Smithey of Arkansas, Edna Rambo of Gorham, Lela Davis of Alto Pass and Cora Davis of Tamms; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren;

He was preceded in death by his father and four brothers.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms.

Funeral will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Billy Don Heady officiating. Burial will be in Fayville Cemetery.
