Fred R. Kraft, 95, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born Jan. 23, 1922, in Cape Girardeau to Bernhardt and Varina Schatte Kraft. Fred and Pauline Pobst were married Feb. 6, 1953, in Jackson. Pauline preceded Fred in death in 2010.
Fred served in the U.S. Army during World War II from Nov. 9, 1942, to Nov. 10, 1945, in Africa and Italy. Fred was awarded the Bronze Star with "V" for Valor device, the Combat Infantry Badge, three Battle Campaign Stars and a World War II Victory Medal.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War, the American Legion and Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a nephew, Victor (Mary) Gunn of Cape Girardeau, as well as many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today at the Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home, with the funeral service following at 12:30 p.m. The Rev. Karen Dumey will be officiating. Burial will follow at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
