Fred D. "Nook" Kelley, 76, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, June 5, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 20, 1939, in Cape Girardeau to Curtis and Velma Watson Kelley. He was a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1957. He and Carol S. Eichhorn were married Dec. 20, 1973, at Cape Girardeau.
Nook was founder and president of Craftsman Independent Union Local 1, which was founded in 1983.
Survivors include his wife, Carol S. Kelley of Cape Girardeau; nephews, C.D. Kelley Jr., Jeff Kelley, Chris Kelley, Sean Kelley, Terrence Kelley, Vince Kelley and Blake Gaddis, all of Cape Girardeau, and Jeff Peterman of Barnhart, Missouri; nieces, Cindy Kelley and Robyn Turner of Cape Girardeau and Saundra Elliott of O'Fallon, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Ancell; and brothers, Claude "Nip" Kelley and Dwight "Skip" Kelley.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Revs. David McNeely, Jack Cathcart and Fred Ritter officiating. Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.
