Funeral service for Fred Cross Jr., 2601 Gardenia, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Larry Gallamore will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, with an Elks service at 7.
Cross, 78, died Monday, April 10, 1995, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Aug. 12, 1916, in Murphysboro, Ill., son of Fred and Rosey Alice Moore Cross. He and Nelda G. Frazier were married Nov. 12, 1936, in Murphysboro. She died April 15, 1986. He later married Pauline Musgraves Smith Aug. 10, 1987, in Cape Girardeau.
Cross retired as a clerk with Missouri Pacific Railroad. He had lived here since 1952. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Elks Lodge, and VFW Post 3838. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Beverly Bucklew of Arlington, Texas; two stepsons, Jack and Jerry Smith of Cape Girardeau; a stepdaughter, Jean Wilson of Jackson; two brothers, Randal Cross of Arcadia, Calif., Wayne Cross of Brea, Calif.; four sisters, Aletha Vigor of Eight Mile, Ala., Helen Vancil of Leroy, Ill., Melba Cross of Murphysboro, Lillian Presson of Marion, Ill., and a grandson.
He was preceded in death by a sister and brother.
